Connect ChatGPT to Sprint Track, and stay in control.

Sprint Track runs a remote MCP server, so you can add it to ChatGPT as a custom connector and plan, triage, and update your work from a chat. Reads happen directly. Edits wait for an approver in Sprint Track unless your workspace auto-approves them, and sensitive and destructive changes always do.

OAuth sign-in, no API key Never more than your role Revoke any time

How it works

One connection, one workspace, your permissions.

Sprint Track speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other apps. ChatGPT connects to the same server as Claude and every other MCP client.

Server URL
https://api.sprintrack.com/mcp. It is the only thing you need to paste. There is no API key, client ID, or secret to copy.
Sign-in
OAuth. You sign in to Sprint Track in your browser and approve the connection. ChatGPT registers itself automatically and shows as a verified client, so nothing needs to be set up in Sprint Track first.
Workspace
Each connection is bound to the one workspace you choose while connecting. To work in a different workspace, revoke the connection under AI assistants, then Connections, and connect again.
Access
Choose Full access, which is everything your Sprint Track role allows, or Custom, to pick exactly which capabilities, and optionally which projects, ChatGPT gets. A connection never goes beyond your role.
Tools
ChatGPT gets the same Sprint Track tools as Claude and every other MCP client, and follows the same rules.
Changes
Reads run straight away. Edits wait for an approver in Sprint Track, who is notified, unless your workspace auto-approves routine edits from this app. Sensitive and destructive changes always wait for approval.
Audit
Everything ChatGPT does goes through the same permission checks and audit trail as the Sprint Track app.

Requirements

Before you connect.

What your workspace, your role, and your ChatGPT plan need.

Package
Your workspace needs a package that includes AI assistant access: Launch, AI, or Enterprise. It is not included on Free.
Role
Owners, Admins, Members, and Viewers can connect by default. Guests cannot. A custom role needs the permission to connect the workspace to ChatGPT, Claude, and other MCP clients.
ChatGPT plan
Sprint Track is added as a custom connector through Developer mode, on plans where ChatGPT offers Developer mode. On ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, an admin may need to allow custom connectors first.
Workspace settings
Your administrators can turn each AI app on or off, limit what it may do, choose whether its routine edits are auto-approved, and block unverified clients. All are described under Approvals and safety.

Connect in ChatGPT

Add Sprint Track as a custom connector.

Add it once. After that, you switch Sprint Track on in any chat where you want to use it.

  1. Turn on Developer mode

In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Create a connector

Go back to Settings, then Apps & Connectors, and click Create.

  3. Enter the Sprint Track details

Name it Sprint Track. The description is optional, for example Plan and deliver projects. Paste the server URL below as the MCP server URL.

    MCP server URL
    https://api.sprintrack.com/mcp
  4. Set Authentication to OAuth

No client ID or secret is needed. ChatGPT registers itself with Sprint Track.

  5. Confirm you trust the connector, then click Create

Tick the checkbox ChatGPT shows for custom connectors to continue.

  6. Sign in to Sprint Track

ChatGPT opens Sprint Track in your browser. Sign in the way you normally do.

  7. Choose a workspace and the access to grant

Pick one workspace, then Full access or Custom. Approve to return to ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Business and Enterprise

If you cannot turn on Developer mode or create a connector, your ChatGPT workspace admin may need to allow custom connectors first. Each member still signs in with their own Sprint Track account, so every connection keeps that member's role and permissions.

Use it in a chat

Switch it on, then ask.

Turn the connector on in a chat, then ask about your work in plain language.

  1. Switch Sprint Track on in a chat

Start a chat, open the + (tools) menu in the message box, and turn on the Sprint Track connector.

  2. Ask about your work

Name the project, issue, or cycle when you can. Mentioning Sprint Track in your request helps ChatGPT pick the right tool.

  3. Read the results in the Sprint Track card

ChatGPT shows Sprint Track results in an embedded card: lists as tables, issues and other records as cards, and approval links and progress for longer work in their own panels.

  4. Follow approval links in Sprint Track

When a change needs approval, ChatGPT gives you a link. Approve or reject it in Sprint Track, then tell ChatGPT you have decided so it can check the outcome.

What you can ask

Plan, triage, report, and update work in plain language.

ChatGPT can do anything your role allows within the access you granted. A few examples:

Find and summarize
"What is overdue in the Mobile project, and who owns it?"
Triage
"Find backlog issues with no priority or owner and suggest both. Show me a table before changing anything."
Plan a sprint
"Plan a two-week sprint for the Website project from the top of the backlog."
Update work
"Move PM-42 to In Progress, assign it to Maya, and add a comment with this update."
Report
"Write a status report for leadership on the current cycle."
Standup
"Prepare my standup from what I worked on yesterday."
Knowledge
"Find the launch brief and summarize the open decisions."
Time
"Log two hours on PM-42 for yesterday."

Approvals and safety

Edits wait for an approver. You decide what runs on its own.

ChatGPT works through the same permission checks as the Sprint Track app, and it cannot approve anything on your behalf.

Reads
Run directly, within your role and the access you granted.
Routine edits
Creating and updating issues, comments, cycles, labels, time logs, and similar records wait for an approver by default. Administrators can auto-approve them for each app on the AI assistants page; they are recorded in the audit trail either way.
Sensitive and destructive changes
Deleting or revoking anything, changing membership, rates, sharing, or project scope, running agents and imports, and every GitHub write create an approval request instead. ChatGPT gives you a link, you review the exact change in Sprint Track, and it runs as soon as you approve it. ChatGPT can never approve anything itself.
Per-app settings
Workspace administrators can turn ChatGPT, Claude, or other clients on or off, limit each to read only or read and write, and choose whether its routine edits are auto-approved. The settings are under AI assistants, then Apps & permissions.
Unverified clients
Administrators can block MCP clients that Sprint Track cannot verify. ChatGPT is verified, so it can still connect while this is on.
Revoke any time
Open AI assistants, then Connections, in Sprint Track to see each connection, narrow its access, or revoke it. Administrators can review and revoke every member's connections.
Untrusted content
Sprint Track instructs connected assistants to treat issue text, comments, and documents as data, never as instructions. Review what ChatGPT proposes before you approve it.

Privacy

Where your data goes.

Connecting ChatGPT shares data with OpenAI, and only because you asked it to.

Your choice
Nothing is shared with OpenAI until you connect ChatGPT. Connecting is opt-in and started by you.
What is shared
The workspace, project, and issue data ChatGPT reads or changes for your requests is sent to OpenAI.
Provider terms
Once that data reaches OpenAI, it is handled under your agreement with them and their privacy policy.
Stopping
Revoke the connection in Sprint Track, or delete the connector in ChatGPT. Revoking ends ChatGPT's access straight away.

OpenAI (for ChatGPT) and Anthropic (for Claude) are listed on our sub-processors page. See our Privacy Policy and security overview for more.

Troubleshooting

If something does not work.

The most common problems and what to do about them.

Developer mode is missing
Developer mode is only offered on plans where ChatGPT includes it. On ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, an admin may need to allow custom connectors or Developer mode for your workspace first.
ChatGPT says the connector could not be authorized
Check that the MCP server URL is exactly https://api.sprintrack.com/mcp and that Authentication is OAuth, then finish signing in and approve the connection in the Sprint Track tab. If Sprint Track refused the workspace, its package may not include AI assistant access, or your role may not allow connecting. Ask a workspace administrator, then connect again.
It is using the wrong workspace
A connection keeps the workspace you chose, even when you connect again. Revoke it in Sprint Track under AI assistants, then Connections, then connect from ChatGPT again and choose the other workspace.
ChatGPT does not use Sprint Track
Check that the Sprint Track connector is turned on from the + menu in that chat, and mention Sprint Track in your request.
A tool or action is missing
ChatGPT only sees what your role allows and what you granted when connecting. To grant more, revoke the connection under AI assistants, then Connections, and connect again with Full access or a wider Custom selection.
Attaching a file
From ChatGPT, Sprint Track can attach only small text files, up to 180 KiB, whose content ChatGPT already has. Upload images, PDFs, and larger files in Sprint Track.
